Mercedes-Benz to Implement Active Comfort

Mercedes-Benz moves to the next level in terms of safety and wants to limit the risk of accidents through the Active Comfort system. This will help the driver who stopped for rest to fall asleep much faster by “calming” his senses.

Once solved the problem of airbags’ effectiveness and of the other classic safety systems that help passengers in case of accident, automakers are now focusing on adjacent systems designed to prevent accidents. And the best known of them – proximity sensors that detect the presence of a car in the blind spot or sensors that notifies the driver that he has crossed the line delimiting the road – are already included in the optional package of more and more models.

Jaguar Is Launching Three New Engines: 240 hp, 340 hp and 380 hp

Jaguar introduced at the auto show in Beijing three new engines: a 2.0-liter unit of 240 hp and 3.0-liter V6 available in two output versions: 340 hp and 380 hp.

Jaguar could not miss Beijing. At the largest auto show in China, the British introduced a new range of engines, oriented towards the current line of models. The aim of the manufacturer is to reduce the average emissions and consumption with the help of downsizing technology. The new engines presented in Beijing come to replace larger engines.

2.0-liter gasoline engine and 240 hp

The first on the list is a 2.0-liter gasoline aggregate with four cylinders. The unit, derived from the currently engine  existing on Range Rover Evoque, is capable of developing 240 hp at 5,500 rpm and a torque of 340 Nm, delivered on a generous range of speeds, available between 1800 and 4000 rotations.

Resources are exploited with an automatic transmission with eight reports, and the consumption is held in check by a start-stop system. The new 2.0-liter engine comes to replace the old 3.0-liter AJV6 units starting with this summer, on models like XJ and XF.

3.0-liter V6 engine with two versions: 340 hp and 380 hp

Jaguar’s second engine exhibited in Beijing is a 3.0-liter V6 gasoline, available with two power options. The first offers 380 hp and 460 Nm and will be offered exclusively on the new F-Type, the sporty Jaguar will present this autumn in Paris.

The second power version of the 3.0-liter unit delivers 340 hp and 450 Nm. It will be for XF and XJ models, the British plan being to replace the old 5.0-liter V8 starting with the end of this year.

Adrian Hallmark, global brand director of Jaguar, said: “Our company currently has products for years to come. Our growth depends on two things: improving the image and the development of the range of products to earn more of the public in developed and emerging markets. The introduction of these gasoline engines is part of this ambitious plan. “

R18 Ultra Chair – Ultra Light Chair Made of Composite Materials by Audi

Audi gets involved in exercises of creativity and will present at the International Furniture Fair in Milan a chair built by two known designers and made from materials that we can find in the cars of the future.

When we talk about the future of cars, we are especially referring to alternative propulsion technologies and space effective solutions. Sometimes, however, automakers adjust our focus on another essential component of future vehicles: ultra light materials that will create increasingly lighter cars, thus, with performance and consumption increasingly better.

Designers Clemens Weisshaar and Reed KRAM built a chair they will exhibit at the International Furniture Fair in Milan, from April 17 to 22.

Officially called R18 Ultra Chair – name inspired by the prototype with which Audi won last year the 24 hours Race of Le Mans, the chair built by Weisshaar and KRAM has three main components: carbon fiber seat, the back is made from a material that combines carbon fiber with a special rubber and aluminum legs. In addition to the materials used, the chair stands out through a special form that designers have come to after extensive tests in which were used sensors and mathematical algorithms to achieve one of the most comfortable chairs on the market.
